Basic Pizza Dough

Baking was never my thing.. more like I was scared of baking. When it comes to baking you have to be exact with your measurements and proportions, else it just falls flat. I was always, a pinch of this and a pinch of that kind of person, not big on measurements. All that said I still tried to bake once in a while….

With iterations and trial and error I got my perfect recipe for pizzas and buns… I also tried a whole wheat version of this and it turned out pretty good.
This recipe makes about 2-3 pizza depending on the thickness of the crust. I made about 3 thin crust pizza

Pizza Dough

  • Servings: 5 to 6 spoons
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Print

Ingredients:

All purpose flour – 3 cups
Active dry yeast – 1 packet ( 2 1/4 tbs)
Water – 1/2 cup
Milk – 1/2 cup
Oil – 2 tbs while kneading
Salt to taste
Sugar a pinch

Method :
1, In a bowl warm the milk and dissolve the yeast to it. The milk should not be hot. test with your pinky finger. the yeast should form a nice froth. This is important step that determines how the crust will turn out.

2. Let the yeast milk mixture to sit for 10 minutes. You should see the yeast multiplying and forth forming. (If you do not see this it means the the yeast is not working and your dough will not raise. Start form the beginning)
3. Now in a large bowl add the flour, salt and sugar and mix. Now add the oil and yeast milk mixture to form a smooth dough. o not add all the water at once. add slowly as needed when forming the dough.

4. the final mix should be nice and smooth and not too hard. Now take little olive oil on hand and apply on the dough.
5. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it raise. it would take 1-2 hours to raise to almost double in size, depending on the outside temperature. you can put it in the oven to speed up the process.
